About this piece: "Springwater Portal "
This lovely handcrafted, one of a kind solid sterling silver ring is set with an exquisite, expertly cut and polished Native Copper Chrysocolla Chalcedony cabochon. Incredibly rare quality and color in this stone. It will garner compliments everywhere you go - and there will never be another one just like it =)
I took photos outdoors in natural light as well as in studio lighting to show how it appears in both.
The ring is a size 7.5. The ringtop itself, including the stone, is approximately 3/4" or 19mm square.
The silver has been oxidized (blackened) to bring out the beauty of the design.
Our logo and hallmark also whimsically appear on the reverse of the ring. This is a breathtaking ring that will be treasured by its owner.
All of my jewelry is handmade in the form of centuries old tools - torch, hammers, anvils and saws. As such, you may see the rustic marks of forging. This never interferes with the structural integrity of the piece, and is considered to add to the beauty of something labored over - not cast from a machine or mass factory.
About the Stone & Properties:
This stone is powerful! Native copper in chrysocolla chalcedony is associated with calmness, communication, and emotional healing. The chrysocolla component is known for promoting tranquility, a clear mind, and gentle self-expression, while the copper presence energizes these effects and adds a layer of strength. Chalcedony adds clarity and aids in communication.
Metaphysical properties
A truly powerful stone with many qualities reflecting all of the minerals within.
- Calm and peace: The calming blue-green energy of chrysocolla is said to soothe stress and anxiety, promoting a sense of inner peace and tranquility.
- Communication and expression: This stone is strongly linked to the throat and heart chakras, encouraging honest self-expression, open communication, and the ability to speak your truth with wisdom.
- Emotional balance: It is believed to help ease emotional tensions, reduce worry, and promote forgiveness and reconciliation.
- Strength and empowerment: The presence of copper is thought to provide a stronger, more energized quality that stimulates independence and action, while also enhancing the stone's ability to connect you with your Higher Self and "Goddess energy".
- Clarity and creativity: Chalcedony is known to promote clarity of thought and can be beneficial for creative endeavors and fresh thinking.
- Healing: Traditionally, it has been associated with strengthening the body's resistance to illness and emotional duress
How is the Stone Formed in Nature?
This stone is the result of many forces of nature coming together over time. Native copper, chrysocolla, and chalcedony form together through a process of oxidation and alteration in the supergene zone of copper ore bodies. Water containing dissolved silica rises through the ore, oxidizing primary copper minerals like sulfides into native copper, chrysocolla (a hydrated copper silicate), and chalcedony (a form of quartz). These new minerals fill fractures and replace the original ore, creating colorful specimens where chrysocolla's blue-green color is often encased or interwoven with clear chalcedony.
About the Artist:
I'm Bonnie Swensrud, and my family and I proudly design, forge, and finish every item you see in this shop. I've been a silversmith for 25 years, and this business is the heart of our family. Most of our work is in soft metals like fine and sterling silver, copper, brass, bronze, and gold. We love to include natural stones and minerals, adding to the meaning and energy of our pieces. Our small shop is in the Pacific Northwest, in the shadow of the beautiful Mt. Rainier. Our work is inspired by beautiful thick green forests, abundant marine life, teeming lakes and ponds, the smell of rain, ancient petrified wood and agates, the profound experiences of everyday life, and the bounding laughter of our five children.
Each of our collections has a special story. Every member of our family is involved in our process - from the choosing of the stones from all over the world, to the design ideas, to the strength and architecture of the pieces. Every single item in our collections is one-of-a-kind - from the hand-sawing of the silver, to the rare and beautiful stones, to the hand-pressed dies made from antique hubs, the soldering of the accents, and finally to our quality mark.
When you purchase our art, you are not just obtaining a beautiful, handcrafted item - you are also receiving a piece of our story. Our heart, our energy, our effort and our family all come bundled in every piece we make. We hope you love it.
